Baby Shower Mania!!!

I haven't posted anything in awhile, and it's all because I have been so busy! It's down to the final few days until the baby shower! I'm so excited to have our family and friends over, but getting parties organized it a lot of work! I have lists all over my house and at work, and it still seems like I think of more things to do and then I start another list and before I know it there are lists everywhere! I am really happy though to be having the shower this weekend I haven't seen a lot of family and friends in awhile, so this should be fun. I hope everyone can make it! Pray for good weather!

My turn to write

Well, I thought I might try my hand at this techno stuff. Tiffany is the keeper of this blog but today I snuck in and thought I would add a note or two. First let me tell everyone that I am so proud of my wife. Tiffany has made being pregnant a wonderful thing. Rarely does she complain, and when she does it is over such small stuff that it's funny. She is so healthy and happy. I am so lucky to have her in my life. She is a joy to watch during this pregnancy as she always finds the most positive things out of the most toughest of circumstances. She is beautiful, vibrant and so full of life. Roman is so lucky to have her as his mom.
Now as many of you know, my dad....uncle Mike is living in the Veteran's home located in Sandusky Ohio. This past weekend he had his eyes operated on to remove nasty cataracts. I took him back to Detroit for the surgery, and then returned him to his home today. I have to tell you, the complexities of Mike are incredible. I could write a book, but I don't think anyone would read it. Having full control over his financial and medical has allowed me to uncover YEARS of history that no one ever knew. He led an amazing life, albeit he has nothing to show for it. Even his memories are fading away. I don't know how I keep going uncovering the things i shouldn't uncover. "What a tangled web we weave".......well you get the picture. I do it for my mom, who is the greatest woman I know. And for my dad who is full of pride and deserves the best care possible. He tried and failed, but at least he tried. he was a good man. The good lord has handed me the biggest test in my life so far, and all I can say is that all that has happened with my dad will make me a better father and a better husband........ I think I am passing that test.
I will keep you informed on my dad, please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.
The baby shower is around the corner so every free moment is doing something in this house for the party, I wish we would have had it off-site as it probably would have been cheaper. I am so excited as usually the only time I ever used "BABY" in a sentence was in a cheesy pick up line. But now...WOW! I am going to be a dad, and I promise I will be a good dad at that! I hope to see all of you at the shower, if not then for the baptism sometime in June. Love to all....Roman's daddy, Jim

Winter Wonderland... The First Big Snow of 2009

We had our first really big snow fall of 2009... The weather men were saying we were expecting about 4-8" of snow, but it looks like we have close to 10" and the blowing and drifting snow isn't helping those totals... obviously from the pictures below. Jim and I were supposed to have our Pre-childbirth education class Saturday, but that was cancelled because of the poor road conditions, so I am hoping we can make it to the next class which should be in February.

We have huge snow drifts in the back of our yard against the house!

This one actually is at our back garage door and you can see the imprint of the door in it!

38" Snow Drift!

Our back patio... covered in the snow...

And here's Kayla... she has the right idea in this kind of weather.

Read All About It:

Update on Mike: Jim's Dad is going in for surgery for his cataracts on Friday the 9th in Detroit. Doctors said that they would only do one eye at a time, but they are doing to worst eye (left eye) first, and then going from there. He will be out of the hospital on Sunday morning, and Jim will be taking him back to the Sandusky Veterans Home for post-operative care.

Baby Shower Invites: They are out in the mail as of Tuesday morning, so everyone will hopefully be getting them soon! Again, it's on Sunday the 25th of January at my house, so I hope weather will be on our side so we can have a good time.

Childbirth Prep: This Saturday, Jim and I are going to our Basic Childbirth Education class! I am looking forward to learning about the child birth process and what will be happening to me and the baby, and learning Lamaze techniques... but I am not not NOT looking forward to watching that video they have where the woman is giving birth and we get to watch it all. I know that may seem bad, but I don't care... I'm just being honest. I wouldn't mind being told what will happen and what I might feel, but I don't want to watch some other lady going through it. Yikes... but I guess I'll make the best of it- that's all I really can do. :)

Painting: Thursday the basement is getting painted! I am so excited. Jim and I put up the base board moulding last night, so the painting will be the next step. We are hoping to be able to have most of the shower in the basement once it's ready... and I picked out this nice light green color for the walls, so I am hoping it really will look nice down there and make it a room we will actually use!

Test Results...

I think I mentioned on my post from the 17th of December that I had to go for my three hour long glucose tolerance test on Monday the 29th of December since my first 1 hour test came back bad. I was pretty nervous about having to go and getting my blood drawn 4 times in one day to test for gestational diabetes, but we do what we have to do I guess. So I went and got it over with at 7am that morning and I have just been waiting since then. I was mortified to see my arms a couple of days later being that they were black and blue -I looked like a total junky. I was just glad it was winter and I get to wear long sleeves.

Anyway, I got my test results back this afternoon from my doctors office, and I PASSED!!! -With flying colors! I am so happy. Each hour that I was digesting the horrible tasting orange drink they gave me, my glucose levels were about 20 points below what would be considered high. I am so happy I don't have to worry about that! Yippee! :)

Girls Night Out...

My cousin Jessi was in town from South Korea where she teaches English. She only had a week back home, so her, my Mom, and my cousin Allison all met at my Mom's house for some girl talk, and then we went to dinner at Macaroni Grill. I had a great time, and it was so nice to get up there and just be able to hang out and talk with my favorite cousins and my Mom.
